SANGLA HILL: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday distributed cheques of Rs500,000 each amongst the families of the five children who died Saturday in a horrific accident at a Railway crossing in Sangla Hill Town, Geo News reported.
The chief minister arrived here via helicopter to pay a visit to the bereaved families.
Sharif condoled with the parents of the children who lost their lives when a train (Shalimar Express) hit a motorcycle rickshaw at a railway crossing where there neither was a safety barrier/gate or even a gatekeeper to ensure the safety of the people.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that he would request the prime minister to ensure that no railway crossings was left without a gate and a gatekeeper to avoid such incidents.
Saqlain, 18 Hasnain,12, Ali,8, Aqsa,11 and Fiza,7 were traveling on a motorcycle rickshaw when Lahore-bound Shalimar Express ran them down. All the children were killed on the spot.
