SUKKUR: A notorious bandit involved in attack on PPP public meeting and killing of seven persons, and later arrested by the police from Punjab, was killed in encounter near Bagarji on Tuesday morning, police claimed.
Accused Azizullah Janwari was arrested from Bahawalpur (Punjab) when he fled after attack on PPP public meeting in village Sadoro Janwari near Khairpur led by MNA Nafeesa Shah on October 7 last in which seven people including a journalist were killed.
Sindh government had fixed Rs.2.5 million head money for him.
Khairpur police had obtained his remand for 12 days and was handed over to Sukkur police for further investigation. Aziz Janwari was detained at Bagarji police station of district Sukkur for the interrogation instead at any police station of district Khairpur.
According to SSP Sukkur Syed Pir Muhammad Shah, some unidentified armed persons attacked on Bagarji police station early Tuesday morning and got the released Aziz Janwari from lock up. A police party chased them and held encounter resultantly Azizullah Janwari was killed on the spot.
Meanwhile, relatives of killed criminal have alleged that Azizullah Janwari was killed by police in fake encounter.
