LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan Saturday said he did not want to be elevated to power by riding Americans' shoulders and that he was stopped at the Toronto airport owing to his anti-US stance on drone attacks.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at PTI's central secretariat here. Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other party leaders were present on the occasion.
Imran Khan brushed aside the impression that the party was being hijacked by landlords, calling it a 'disinformation'. "Party elections are around the corner and it will soon come to the fore as to whom the PTI members elect as their leader," he added.
He said those party members who fail to follow the party regulations will have no room in the PTI.
The PTI chief reiterated that both Pakistan People's Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz were faking a fight and this stood exposed during the recent elections of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
Referring to his interrogation at the Toronto airport, Imran Khan he had been raising funds from Pakistanis based in the US for the past 20 years and he had never been stopped until recently.
Imran Khan, therefore, termed his being stopped like this as an insult to the people of Pakistan. "All the Americans had stood together for the killer Raymond Davis but no one in Pakistan raised any voice for the country's leader," he regretted.
