LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif Wednesday stressed the need for concord among all the institutions of the state, Geo News reported.
“Judges, generals, including politicians, all have their share of flawed decisions in the past, but we should let the bygones be bygones”, said PML-N leader in an exclusive statement issued here.
He said the supremacy of law and constitution was the focal point of Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry’s recent speeches.
“National interest should come first no matter what”, he said.
He said as far as the interpretation of constitution was concerned judiciary had the last word on it.
On the other hand he added that Army was the symbol of Pakistan’s defence.
“Everyone wants the Army to stand united and any attempt to divide it would run counter to the national interests”, he added.
In the same breath he said that undermining the judiciary would be tantamount to turning the country into a jungle.
“ He said the new judiciary is passing historic judgments fearlessly, a feat that a frail one would never be able to”, said Nawaz.
