Addressing a symposium on "Role and jurisdiction of courts under laws governing corporate sector" organised by Punjab Judicial Academy (PJA) and Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) at a local hotel here on Friday, he said that "The judiciary is an institution with a vision for dispensation of justice and we made sacrifices for it and continued to do so".

He said that efforts were going on to end backlog of cases filed till 2008 which resulted in double rate of disposal. "The end of backlog is only two or three years away", he added. He appreciated efforts by the judicial officers and bar for the purpose.

He said that efforts were also being made to control influx of cases and special focus was being paid to strengthen government institutions and others to achieve it as most cases resulted from their inefficiency.

He emphasized that courts should deal with only serious matters.

He also appreciated responsive and vital role played by SECP and said that Pakistan needed economic sector growth for progress and SECP's role was crucial for the purpose.
