Quetta: FC aborts terror bid, seizes laods of explosive devices

QUETTA: By seizing a truckload of explosive devices, Frontier Corps (FC) personnel here on Thursday night aborted a major terror bid before it could deliver its deadly blow, Geo News reported.

According to an FC spokesperson, securitymen intercepted the vehicle carrying this explosive cargo in Gulistan area.

“When they beckoned the driver of the suspected four-wheeler to stop and show ID, he shot ahead forcing the FC men to engage in a high-speed pursuit”, said he.

He said the FC patrol, hot on the suspected runaway vehicle’s trail, was on its tail before long.

"The sentinels caught up to the transporters of explosives in Kali Sigi area, he said adding but the culprits succeeded in making an escape before our men could lay hands on them", said he.

Around 20 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), rocket-propelled-grenade launchers, landmines, and detonators were what FC men recovered from the vehicle after a thorough search, said he.

He also added that this lethal consignment was coming from Qila Abdullah.

"If these explosive devices had found their way into the city they would have been used to target Ashura congregations", said he.
