SIM retailing ban to kill thousands of jobs: traders

KARACHI: Traders have flatly rejected a ban that bars the shopkeepers from selling of mobile phone SIM cards at retail outlets, Geo News reported.

Vice President All Karachi Tajir Ittehad, Jameel Paracha while talking to Geo News said that retailers have millions of SIMS in stock, which the cellular companies have refused to recall.

“It will be a financial murder of the small traders as the losses incurred by them as a result of this ban run would never let them make both ends meet”, said he.


He demanded of the government and federal interior minister to review the decision.

“The government must give it second thoughts for the sake of thousands of families, which will suffer from it directly” the trade body office bearer said.

He said terrorism and militancy demanded countermeasures better than this one.

“It would put a large number of bread earners out of business. Thousands more would be rendered jobless too”, Paracha added.
