ISLAMABAD: Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan Thursday said the Commission wanted to demarcate constituencies across the country in light of the last census but undertaking the exercise only in Karachi under the Supreme Court's order.
The Secretary ECP held a meeting here with the Sindh Chief Secretary and other provincial officials in connection with carrying out the exercise of delimiting constituencies in Karachi.
During the meeting, all the five commissioners of Karachi advocated delegation of magisterial powers to ensure peaceful and transparent elections.
Later, talking to media men, Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan said no one will be treated with injustice. "The task of delimitation of constituencies will be undertaken after taking all the stakeholders into confidence," he assured.
In this connection, he said a meeting with all the political parties has been convened for Friday.
