KARACHI: World Snooker Champion Muhammad Asif was accorded warm welcome upon his arrival at Karachi airport in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Asif defeated Britain's Gary Wilson by 10-8 to clinch the title of World Snooker Championship in Bulgaria.
The star player was warmly welcomed by relatives, fans and Snooker Association officials at Jinnah International Airport.
Talking to media at the airport, the snooker champion credited his parents and fans prayers for winning the title.
"There was no one to guide me during the tournament, but I hold my nerves to achieve this victory," he said adding that he would continue to achieve victories for the country.
He said "I wanted to thank Snooker Association, which arranged funds for sending the boys to the championship."
The government should provide facilities to the snooker players, he added.
