CAA surveillance radar shut in Pasni

PASNI: The Secondary Surveillance Radar of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has been shut due to technical fault in Pasni, Geo News reported on Saturday.

The CAA uses the radar for the guidance of aircrafts. Sources in the CAA said planes entering in Pakistani airspace have no radar guidance within the span of 200 nautical miles.

The sources said the radar has been malfunctioning for many years and a plan for replacement could not be materialized.

However, A CAA spokesman said that air traffic controllers had been guiding the planes through alternative means.
