Provinces got more funds than federation: Sheikh
LAHORE: Federal Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh has said maximum powers were given to provinces so that they could play better role for the development of the country.


He was addressing the 7th convocation of Beaconhouse National University (BNU) on Saturday, he said it was a time to
commit for building human capital.

The minister said parliament had strengthened the provinces and now it was a responsibility of the provinces to provide basic facilities of life to people like eduaction, health.

The minister added that the provinces were granted more development funds than the federation.

He said education was vital important for development of the country and prosperity of people.

He said some elements wants to disfigure the Constitution
but the PPP-led government restored it in its real form.

Hafeez said there were 80 channels working freely and courts
were active in the country,adding that the rule of law was
existing.

"Facing some challenges like security and others but all of us should work together for bringing prosperity," he added.

He said "We have big names in country from whom we can get inspiration."

He said each individual who rejected bribe and work effectively for progress of the country was a hero of our country.

The world was nervous about food security and large debts. Damaging effects of climatic changes were also causing problems, The Minister said.
