Registrar won’t appear before PAC: SC
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Registrar will not appear before the Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament, said a statement issued by the office of the apex court on Thursday.

The statement said that though the Supreme Court saw the parliamentary body with respect, it was not authorized to scrutinize the apex court’s accounts since the Constitution didn’t allow this.

It said that according to the Article 68 of the Constitution conduct of the judges could not be debated in the parliament.

The Public Accounts Committee headed by PPP lawmaker Nadeem Afzal Chan had summoned the Supreme Court Registrar on Friday.

The statement further said that the Article 175-3 of the Constitution separates the judiciary from the executive and the PAC was only authorized to scrutinize the national accounts.
