KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain called President Asif Ali Zardari over the phone from London and the two leaders discussed the current situation in the country.
Altaf Hussain said MQM would continue to support the present government for the cause of democracy in the country.
He congratulated the President for pursuing the policy of reconciliation which, he said, had resulted in the formation of coalition democratic government which is approaching the successful completion of its constitutionally mandated term.
The President thanked Altaf Hussain for reiterating support to the government and said that the government also welcomed and looked forward to the continued support of MQM on all important national issues.
It may be mentioned here that the Supreme Court has recently served a contempt notice to MQM Chief Altaf Hussain ordering him to appear before the court on January 7 following the latter's statement against judges during his telephonic address to a public meeting.
