GILGIT: The situation has returned to normal in Gilgit after two days of tension in the city while the government has lifted the ban from driving pickup, Geo News reported Thursday.
According to sources, markets and trade centers resumed their regular business activities. The Gilgit-Rawalpindi section of Karakoram highway has also been opened for traffic. However, the ban on motorcycles is still intact due to deteriorating security situation in the area.
The city faced commotion three days ago due to firing that left two persons dead and four injured.
