Shops forced to close in Saddar
KARACHI: Unknown men forced the shop owners and vendors to close down their businesses in Saddar and adjoining areas Saturday, Geo News reported.

According to Geo News’ correspondent, unidentified miscreants forced the shopkeepers to close shops in Saddar, Empress Market, Bohri Bazaar, Regal and other adjoining areas.

Tension has gripped the entire area while people are trying to figure out the cause.

It may be mentioned that three persons including a local office bearer of the Awami National Party (ANP) were gunned down while two police personnel sustained injuries in Empress Market area of the metropolis on Friday.

Police attempted to arrest one of the attackers but the angry protesters took him away and later he was reported dead. The incident triggered riots in the area due to which angry mobs opened fire, killing at least one person. Police told they had taken two cars into their custody and that weapons were also recovered from the vehicles.

A man was arrested and preliminary investigation suggested that the incident was the result of an old dispute between two rivals.
