Quetta-Kandhar first flight takes off
QUETTA: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Tuesday started an air service for Kandhar, as its first flight PK-198 with passengers on board took off from here, Geo News reported.

PIA officials said that the upcoming year would be the development year for the national airline, when besides introducing further new routes new planes would also be included in the airline fleet.

The inaugural ceremony of the Quetta-Kandhar air route was held at the international airport here, which was attended by the PIA Managing Director, Captain (retired) Muhammad Junaid, Afghan Consul General, Ghulam Muhammad Bahadur and other officials.

PIA MD on this occasion said that there would be two flights per week-- Tuesday and Thursday for Quetta-Kandhar route that would ease the difficulties of the passengers.
He further said that air service would also be started for Barcelona and Chicago, as five new planes would be added to the fleet of the airline during the year.

Afghan Consul General in Quetta appreciating the beginning of the Quetta-Kandhar air service said that this would greatly help improve the traveling facility between the two neighbouring countries.
