Toxic cough syrup claims two more lives

GUJRANWALA: The death toll has reached 17 in Gujranwala and Toba Tek Singh due to the consumption of alleged toxic cough syrup as two more died in Gujranwala Saturday, Geo News reported.

According to Medical Superintendent of District Head Quarter Hospital Dr Anwar Amanullah, 21 persons were brought from different areas who had consumed the alleged toxic cough syrup and drugs excessively. Seventeen out of 21 died including the former Councilor of Nadi Pur Town, Chaudhry Irfan.

Ten patients in critical condition were shifted to Lahore. So far, the toxic syrup has claimed two more lives in Toba Tek Singh as well, pushing the toll to 17.
