ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has authorised Frontier Constabulary (FC) to exercise police authority in order to take control of the situation in Quetta following the series of suicide blasts that killed over 100 persons on Thursday, Geo News reported Saturday.
According to sources, PM Raja Pervez has given the authority of police to the FC force to maintain peace in the city and has instructed the federal institutions to assist the provincial government in maintaining security situation.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik met with the prime minister today and briefed him about the overall security situation in the country with special reference to Quetta.
Considering the request made by the Balochistan government, PM Ashraf directed the FC to assist the civil administration and gave it the additional authority of police.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has announced one million rupees compensation for the kin of Quetta blasts victims and rupees one lac assistance for the injured.
