Pak-Saudi naval wargames underway

KARACHI: A bilateral exercise between Pakistan Special Services Group (SSG N) and Royal Saudi Naval Special Forces are in full swing under the ambit of Exercise Naseem Al Bahr, which is 10th in series.

A Pakistan Navy press release said that the officers and members of Special Service Group (Navy), Pakistan Navy Maritime Special Warfare (MSW) Group, SEAL Group and officers and members of Royal Saudi Naval Special Forces are participating in the wargames.

Maritime Special Warfare (MSW) and SEAL GROUP encompassing seminar, lectures and special operations exercises were conducting the Exercise simultaneously.

Maritime Special Warfare Group conducted Maritime Special Operations encompassing Maritime Counter Terrorism, Counter Piracy Operations at Sea and Close Quarter Combat.

The operations were being conducted by Special Operating Forces using Special Force Boats, VBSS Boats and Helicopters.

The joint exercise culminated on supposed boarding operations on a simulated pirated vessel in Counter piracy situation using the SSG(N) sea platforms.

SEAL Group focused on Minor operations, Marksmanship, transition drills, Live moving fires, Fighting in Built Up Area (FIBUA), Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT), Close Quarter Combat (CQC) and Mountain warfare. Both teams demonstrated individual skills in different facets of Special Operations.

Joint Field Tactical Exercise encompassing field craft, survival techniques, navigation, hide pit drills followed by ambush on convoy
and raid on simulated target was undertaken in Mountainous terrain by both SOFs.

Special Service Group (Navy) was established to undertake diversified
Special Operations in 1967.

The organization has been recognized as one of potent force globally with diversified capability to undertake SEAL (Seal Air Land) operations, Anti Terrorist Operations and Maritime Special Warfare
(MSW) Operations simultaneously with equal competence and professionalism. SSG(N) regularly undertakes exercises with the
contemporary Special Ops Forces (SOFs) of the world to enhance
professional acumen and fighting skills.

The Exercise provided good opportunity to both Special Operating Forces to exchanging expertise in the different domain of special ops,
develop cordial relations and enhance interoperability. (APP)
