SC seeks copy of NAB chairman’s letter to Zardari
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has sought an attested copy of the letter written by Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Fasih Bokhari to President Zardari, Geo News reported Wednesday.

During today’s proceedings of the Rental Power Projects (RPP) case, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked that the apex court wanted to scrutinize the purpose of the letter written by the NAB chairman.

The chief justice added that the letter was an attempt to mount pressure on the court and had malicious content that fell under the category of spreading hatred against the court.

The apex court will evaluate if the NAB chairman had the legal authority to write this letter and has been given time till Thursday to submit the authenticated copy of the letter. The Supreme Court has also sought details regarding the recipients of the letter.

The chief justice asserted that no one will be allowed to interfere in the judicial process.

The letter written by the NAB chairman stated that officers of the bureau were under pressure from the institutions of the country. When CJ asked the prosecutor general, he expressed the probability of the reservations to be true.

The hearing of the case was, then, adjourned till January 31.
