KARACHI: Twenty suspected persons were held during late night search operation in different areas of the metropolis after 18 persons lost their lives in the on-going violence in the past 24 hours, Geo News reported Friday.
According to police, security forces conducted a targeted search operation in different areas of Orangi Town and Baldia Town. Additional contingents of police took part in the operation who raided the suspected havens of criminals and apprehended twenty suspects who have been transferred to undisclosed location where investigations are underway. Arms were also recovered from their possession.
Police told that the action is taking place after dozens lost their lives in violence.
Before the operation was kicked off, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a car at Sohrab Goth flyover and killed a man while another sustained injuries, raising the overall toll to 18 in the last 24 hours.
The injured and body were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the deceased was identified as Mudasir while his companion as Wajahat. The victims were the residents of Ancholi Society.
After reaching the incident spot, policemen of Samanabad and Yousuf Plaze police stations argued over the station limits.
