ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) will resume hearing of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officer Kamran Faisal’s death case, Friday, Geo News reported.
A two-judge bench comprising Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain will hear the case.
It may be mentioned that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah claimed that incomplete samples of Kamran Faisal were sent to the forensic laboratory and in order to get correct samples, his body would need to be exhumed.
In the last hearing on January 28, NAB Prosecutor General KK Agha expressed his no confidence on the bench hearing Kamran Faisal’s case.
Faisal, who was investigating the Rs22 billion Rental Power Projects (RPP) scam, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his official residence in Federal Lodges, Islamabad on January 18. His death came three days after the SC ordered the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and 15 others in connection with the scam.
As the NAB Prosecutor General expressed his no confidence on the bench, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja asked him to submit his reservations in writing.
Justice Khilji Arif during the hearing said that if the reasons for no confidence were found tenable, then it might be considered.
Prosecutor Ggeneral requested for some time and until then the hearing be adjourned.
Thereafter, the court offered Advocate Anwar Kamal to become Amicus curiae in the case to which KK Agha raised objections.
While Anwar Kamal said that he has been amicus curiae in the rental power case also.
Later, Attorney General Irfan Qadir told the court that an inquiry was already in process regarding the death of Kamran Faisal. He also submitted a letter confirming that a judicial commission was probing in the matter.
Justice Khilji Arif inquired which commission? Then, the AG explained that a commission headed by Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal was already working.
The court then sought the said notification and adjourned the hearing.
