LAHORE: Thickset drapes of blinding night fog have forced the authorities to close the Lahore-Sheikhupura section of Motorway (M2), Geo News reported Tuesday morning.
The decision came on the heels of a visibility test which showed it was virtually impossible for the motorists to drive on any lane of M2.
“The Motorway police have also suspended traffic as the fog has brought the visibility down to zero”, a policeman told Geo News.
No traffic was allowed to hit the road from Thokar Niaz Baig to Sheikhupura interchange until further orders, he added.
The motorists were diverted towards GT Road with strict instructions to drive in convoys.
The police have strictly advised motorists to switch on fog-lights while driving, travel in convoys or avoid traveling if possible, as part of safety measures as long as the fog ruled supreme.
