Concerned over Pakistan's internal security: Singh
NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said India had to give its military might a needed boost given the internal security threats facing Pakistan, Geo News reported.

“India was doubly concerned over what Pakistan was going through with regards to war on terror. We are paying close attention to it. Security situation on the other side of the divide is alarming”, said he while speaking at the governors' conference in New Delhi.

He said India had always wanted to make true peace with Pakistan but the violations of ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control (LoC), which were an anathema to fence-mending, could not be tolerated no matter what.

“India is committed to working for good relations and peaceful existence with its neighbours but is also firm in its resolve to effectively deal with any threat that comes its way”, said he.

"Incidents like the one that took place on the LoC last month are against the norms of civilized international behaviour and are simply unacceptable to us," he said.

Singh also said that India needed to improve its forces to meet the new security challenges in the region.
