CAPE TOWN: Pakistan were all out for 338 just before lunch in their first innings on the second day of the second test against South Africa at Newlands on Friday.
The not out pair of Asad and Sarfaraz resumed this morning on the overnight score of 253.
Once again the morning session came to hound the Pakistan batting as Asad returned to the pavilion without disturbing the scorers any further.
Soon Sarfaraz and Umer Gul followed the centurion and things started to look bleak.
But then a superb late resistance from Tanveer Ahmed and Saeed Ajmal saw Pakistan cross the three hundred mark.
Even though Saeed rode his luck, but Tanveer grew in confidence and played some handsome shots of the back foot to show the top order how it’s done.
The ninth wicket pair added an invaluable 64 runs before Tanveer was dismissed for a very well played 43. Saeed Ajmal remained not out on 21.
S.African fast bowler V.Philander picked up another fiver to finnish with 5-59. This is Philander’s 9th 5wkt haul in test cricket.
S.Africa will start their innings after the luncheon interval.
