Faisalabad: Four feared drowned as water floods underpass
FAISALABAD: At least four people are feared to have drowned after water gushing out of a breach in a nearby canal flooded an under construction underpass here in Faisalabad, Geo News reported.

Reports say the authorities have not yet responded to the emergency seriously.

Earlier, it was reported from Abdullah Pur area that water, which escaped after a canal was breached, has been filling the belly of the unfinished underpass for many hours.

According to eyewitnesses the water level is rising at an alarming rate.

Some passers-by reportedly got washed away down into the frothing pool formed by runaway canal water in the bottom of underpass, however two of them were rescued in time, whereas four others yet remain unaccounted for.

Relatives of the victims have been protesting against the pathetically slow rescue work.

An angry mob even tried to attack the DCO Faisalabad, who arrived there too late and with too little help.

Later talking to Geo News, he said that divers and other machinery was on way from Lahore to get the bodies of the victims out.
