Main roads sit-ins blockade delaying flights at karachi airport
KARACHI: Some flights were cancelled, while the schedule other flights were hit, as the passengers could not reach the airport here due to road blockades and traffic hassles caused by the scores of continued sit-ins in different parts of the city in protest against the Quetta carnage, Geo News reported.

The main sit-in is being staged for the last 38 hours at Old Numaish on the call of Shia Ulema Council.

Addressing the participants of the sit-in, Ulema said that anything by the name of government doesn’t exist and blamed the FC and law enforcement agencies responsible for the carnage.

A large number of men, women, children and elders are participating in the sit-ins being staged at Teen Talwar, Clifton, Ancholi, Abbas Town, Ayesha Manzil, Five Star Chowrangi, Rizvia Society, Safora Goth, Malir and others.

Almost all the main roads including the Shahrah-e-Faisal remained blocked due to these sits-ins that hampered the road traffics and made it difficult for the passengers to reach the Karachi airport that led to the cancellation of few flights and others delayed.

Airline sources said that Karachi-Dhaka flight PK-266 was scheduled to leave in the morning remains held up due to passengers not making their way to the airport and now it is expected to take off at 2.00 P.M. Similarly, Karachi-Lahore flight PK-302 will be leaving late at 2.00 P.M., while Karachi-Quetta-Kandhar flight PK-198 has been cancelled.
