President signs Investigation for Fair Trial Bill 2013 into law

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari Wednesday promulgated the "Investigation for Fair Trial Bill 2013" during a special signing ceremony, held at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Geo News reported.

The National Assembly had passed the bill on December 20, 2012
and the Senate on February 1, 2013.

The new law necessitates investigation for collection of evidence by means of modern techniques and devices to prevent and effectively deal with scheduled offence.

It also makes it mandatory for the concerned authorities to regulate the powers of the law enforcement/intelligence agencies and for matters connected therewith or ancillary thereto.
