Quetta tragedy: SC resumes suo moto hearing case
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan resumed hearing of suo moto notice case in Quetta carnage here Thursday, Geo News reported.

Three-member apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprises Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Shaikh Azmat Saeed is hearing Hazara Town bomb blast suo moto case.

On Wednesday the defence secretary presented a report in the court contending that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had conveyed the information that huge quantity of chemicals was transported from Lahore.

The Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry remarked had the government alive to the situation in the country, no such incident would have occurred.

He said that there were many agencies working especially to counter terror, yet no action was taken after the information provided to the departments concerned.

Earlier, the Supreme Court issued notices to Balochistan Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police and Commandant Frontier Constabulary (FC) to appear before it and explain their stance over the recent barbaric incident of Hazara Town, Quetta.

The court also directed the Attorney General for Pakistan to submit reports on behalf of the president and prime minister during the next hearing.

Later, the court adjourned hearing till today (Thursday).
