ISLAMABAD: Former Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh resigned as a member of senate which was immediately accepted, Geo News reported.
Election Commission of Pakistan (EC) scheduled election on his seat on March 14.
Chairman Senate Nayyar Bukhari's office received the resignation which was immediately accepted.
Abdul Hafeez mentioned personal issues as a reason of his resignation.
Election commission has called by-polls on Abdul Hafeez seat on March 14. Polling will be conducted in Sindh Assembly's hall.
