PML-N decides to keep Nasir Aslam Zahid as interim PM nominee
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has decided to stick with the name of justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid for the office of caretaker prime minister.

The decision was taken during the meeting presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Mr Sharif said that people with good reputation should be appointed caretaker prime minister instead of indulging in collusion over the issue.

Speaking to media following the meeting, Senator Mushahidullah Khan said consensus had been evolved over the holding of general election on the same day. He, however, said that consensus could not be reached over the issue of dissolution of provincial assemblies on the same day.

Khan made it clear that issue of Punjab Assembly dissolution would only be discussed after installation of caretaker governments in Balochistan and Sindh, which he said should be put in place after consultation with opposition and nationalist parties respectively.

He further said that the PML-N would stick to Nasir Alam Zahid name for caretaker prime minister and Raja Pervez Ashraf had been asked to share any other name which he considered better than Nasir Aslam Zahid.

To a question, he said Shahbaz Sharif had contacted Maulana Fazlur Rehman and committee had also been setup to address his reservations over caretaker prime minister nominations.
