KARACHI: At least nine people including an Australian nationality holder Pakistani businessman were killed in separate incidents here on Wednesday.
According to police the Pakistani-Australian businessman was targeted while he was on his way to the airport.
Apart from that a man was killed in a shootout at the funeral prayer of Karachi Electric Supply Company’s Deputy General Manager, Farhan Khalil.
According to SSP Gulshan, Zafar Iqbal, a heated argument between two groups before the burial of Farhan Aziz worsened into a gun-battle, which claimed the life of a man.
In a separate incident, a 35-year-old man, Saadat, was gunned down in firing by unidentified armed men in Gulbahar, within the remits of Gulbahar police station. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.
Separately, unknown armed men killed a man, aged around 25, near Meera Naka within the jurisdiction of Shershah police station.
The identity of the victim could not be ascertained yet. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for an autopsy.
Similarly, unidentified armed men killed a 50-year-old man, Sultan, in Sector-19, Shah Latif Town. The body was brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a postmortem.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man, Samiullah, son of Nawaz, was killed, while Muhammad Tariq and Rizwan were injured in firing by unknown armed men near Board Office Chowrangi, North Nazimabad within the precincts of North Nazimabab police station.
The body and injured were rushed to ASH for an autopsy and treatment respectively.
Elsewhere, a 45-year-old man, Noor Ahmed, was gunned down by unidentified armed men at Mirza Adam Khan Road, Lyari Town.
The body was shifted to CHK for medico-legal formalities.
The 55-year-old man, Zulfiqar, was killed in firing by unidentified armed men in Boat Basin area of Clifton within the remit of Boat Basin police station. The body was moved to Ziauddin Hospital for a postmortem.
Rescue sources said the man sustained injuries in firing and died during the treatment in hospital.
