Musharraf should have been arrested at airport: Aitzaz

LAHORE: Senior jurist and Pakistan People’s Party veteran Senator Aitzaz Ahsan on Saturday said that former strongman Pervez Musharraf should have been arrested the moment he landed at the airport.

He was speaking to media after submitting nomination papers of his wife to the Punjab Election Commission. Mr Ahsan advised those who hurled shoe at the former military ruler in Karachi not to commit self-contempt by indulging in such acts.

The PPP leader said that Musharraf would be held accountable for Lal Masjid operation and assassinations of Akbar Bugti and Benazir Bhutto.

Replying a query regarding Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Senator said nobody ever raised questions about Moonis Elahi and Hamza Shahbaz.

He expressed the hope that Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi would hold free and fair election.

Atizaz Ahsan said that his wife Bushra Gohar was awarded PPP ticket on merit and Benazir Bhutto also wanted to see her in the National Assembly.
