ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan admitted petition, seeking prosecution of former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf under High Treason (Punishment) Act 1973.
The court ordered the federation and all its functionaries to ensure that the former military ruler Pervez Musharraf doesn’t leave the country till next orders.
In a written verdict issued here on Monday, the apex court ordered the Interior Secretary to submit a report regarding the name of Musharraf being placed on the Exit control List (ECL).
Meanwhile, on the directives of home department, the Passport And Immigration Directorate has issued a circular for placing the name of former ruler on the ECL. The circular is also sent to the airports, seaports, check posts and all exit points of the country.
According to the circular, Pervez Musharraf is holding a diplomatic passport.
