According to reports the assailants opened fire on a vehicle carrying DSP Ameer Muhammad Dashti, killing the officer on the spot and injuring his bodyguard Aftab.
Aftab was pronounced dead at a local hospital. According to sources, the DSP has been receiving threats from extremists.
