ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday urged the provincial government to take every possible step to ensure holding of a free, fair and transparent general election in the Punjab Province.
Talking to Governor Punjab Makhdum Syed Ahmed Mahmud and Chief Minister Najam Sethi here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President expressed the hope that they would rise to the expectations of the people in this regard.
The Governor and Chief Minister apprised the President about the measures being taken to ensure holding of free, fair and transparent elections in the Province, a statement from the President House said.
The President was also briefed on law and order situation and overall situation in Punjab. The President also hosted lunch for the Governor and Chief Minister.
