General Kayani, President Zardari discuss security situation

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani met President Asif Ali Zardari in the night between Thursday and Friday, sources said.

The meeting came after military commanders discussed security plan for the upcoming general election, besides professional issues during the formation commanders’ conference.

The military chief met the president after the formation commanders’ conference concluded at the General Headquarters.

The sources said that issues relating to troops deployment at sensitive polling stations, cooperation with the Election Commission to hold election as well as overall security situation came under discussion during the meeting.

However, no official statement was issued following the meeting. When contacted by Geo News reporter, Presidential spokesman expressed unawareness about any such meeting.
