KASOOR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President, Nawaz Sharif Saturday said the day of accountability has come for Pervez Musharraf and he is now on his way to meet his fate.
“Pervez Musharraf will have to face punishment for oppressing the people,” Nawaz Sharif asserted while addressing a massive public meeting held here as part of PML-N’s ongoing canvassing for May 11 general elections.
He said the memory must not have blurred in people’s minds about the day when ‘we were incarcerated’ but today people can witness the fate of a violator of the Constitution and law. “It doesn’t make me feel happy to see this, as I hold no personal grudge or vendetta against anyone. But I cannot condone oppression against people of Pakistan,” he added.
Nawaz Sharif strongly criticized the performance of Pakistan People’s Party-led government and asked President Asif Ali Zardari as to what he did for the betterment of the country in the past five years.
“The entire country is suffering from the scourge of terrorism and the atmosphere reeks of fear, forcing me to speak to you from behind the (bullet-proof) glass. I wish I could interact with you directly (without any barriers)”, he regretted.
He said even today Pakistan is suffering from worst loadshedding of 20 hours per day. Had PML-N been in power, the power crisis and other issues would have been resolved by now, he claimed.
However, Nawaz Sharif called upon the people not to be discouraged, as change is destined to come on May 11.
