ISLAMABAD: According to Lal Masjid Commission report, former president Pervez Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz and the members of his cabinet were indirectly responsible for Lal Masjid tragic incident.
The Lal Masjid commission’s report comprises 304 pages which says a three-dimensional strategy regarding Lal Masjid had been planned in order to hit the ‘target’.
Former prime ministers Ch Shujaat Hussain, Shaukat Aziz, Tariq Azeem and then cabinet members have held former president Pervez Musharraf accountable for the aforesaid operation. According to the ex-prime ministers and cabinet members, the Lal Masid operation could have been avoided by adopting some other option.
Security forces from Mangla also backed the 111 Brigade in the operation. The armed forces were called on July 30, 2007. The commission report has also recommended setting up of religious institutions after the name of Lal Masjid, along with provision of financial aid.
