Nawaz’s allegations against Zardari unsubstantiated: Presidentail Spokesman
ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson to President has deplored what he called the unsubstantiated accusations hurled by PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif against President Asif Zardari, aimed at dragging him in partisan political controversies.

He was referring to a public meeting by the PML-N leader.

In a statement, Spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said the President as head of the state, and in deference to recent court’s observations, has scrupulously refrained from indulging in partisan political activities or making political statements.

He said even though there was enough material to retort to Mian Sahib’s allegations in a befitting manner, the President would refrain from directly responding to the allegations respecting the dignity of his high office and also in deference to the court’s observations.

Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the hurling of unsubstantiated and politically motivated allegations amounted to dragging the President into political controversies in contravention of court’s ruling.

“The President would continue to refrain from indulging in partisan political activities and avoid making political statements,” he said.

He said at the same time it was hoped that political leaders would also avoid dragging the President in partisan political contest and uphold the spirit of the court’s ruling, the spokesperson said. (APP)
