GUJRANWALA: At least 60 shops and 70 cabins were gutted as a fire erupted in Qaisra Bazaar on Saturday late night, Geo News reported.
Rescue sources said that the fire broke out due to short circuit at a UPS shop, which spread due to speedy winds, engulfing nearby shops and cabins. Fire tenders faced difficulties in dousing the fire due to congested area and narrow streets. They were able to extinguish the blaze only after two and half hours.
Locals said that rescue teams arrived at the scene hours after the fire erupted and turned the shops into ashes. They said that they kept calling the Fire Brigade for hours but to no avail.
