KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief, Altaf Hussain, has appealed to the people of the country, specially the people of Sind to observe “A day of Thanks” on Friday to celebrate the historical victory of Haq Parast candidates in the general elections.
In a statement issued form London, Mr Hussain said that MQM was not allowed to freely participate in elections by use of force.
Hundreds of MQM workers were martyred and injured through bomb blasts, he added.
Hussain said, an atmosphere of fear, terror and harassment was created to hinder the election campaign of MQM, but despite these hindrances and conspiracies, people came out in large numbers to cast their vote for MQM and once again expressed their confidence in the party.
MQM leader appealed to the people that after the Friday’s prayer they should offer special prayers of thanks to Allah for the splendid victory.
He directed the office bearers, workers and specially the newly elected members of the parliament, to visit the families of martyred workers and share their sorrow and grief and visit the graves of martyrs and lay wreathes on the graves of martyrs.
