PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s nominated Pervez Khattak since the inception of Pakistan will be the 16th chief minister of the Khyber Pukhtunkhaw province, Geo News reported.
Muslim League’s Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan, Sardar Abdur Rashid Khan and Sardar Bahadur Khan were elected CM in early years of Pakistan.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI)’s Maulana Mufti Mahmood remained the CM of this province from May 1972 to February 1973.
PPP’s Sardar Enayetullah Khan Gandapur, Nusrullah Khan Khattak, Muhammad Iqbal Khan Jadoon, Arbab Jahangir Khan and Aftab Khan Sherpao remained elected CM.
Later, Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI)’s Mir Afzal Khan became the CM.
Muslim League-N for the first time in October 1993 got the CM slot after the election of Pir Sabir Shah as CM.
PPP’s Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao became the CM for the second time.
PML-N’s Mehtab Ahmad Khan in February 1997 and Muttahida Maslis-e-Amal (MMA)’s Akram Khan Durrani in November 2002 ascended to this post.
Awami National Party (ANP)’s government was formed for the first time after the General Elections-2008, while Amir Haider Khan Hoti remained the CM of the province until March 20, 2013.
Besides elected CMs, five caretaker CMs also governed this province.
