PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister-elect Pervez Khattak has said that he does not like protocol and prefers going around freely.
“I feel being in prison whenever police escort me,” said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader while addressing a press conference today.
He said that the first session of the newly elected members of Provincial Assembly would be convened on May 29 for which all arrangements have been completed.
Elections for speaker and deputy speaker would be held followed by elections for the coveted office of CM and oath taking ceremony of the Chief Minister.
The PTI has nominated its Provincial President Asad Qaiser for the office of the speakership while senior parliamentarian Pervez Khattak for the office of CM KP.
Khattak said all the coalition partners and elected representatives would be given respect and be taken on board on all issues.
He said election manifesto of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf and promises made by PTI Chairman during elections campaign would be implemented in letter and spirit.
Pervez Khan said establishment of peace in KP would top the agenda list of his Government. Pervez Khattak said policy pertaining to holding peace talks was the prime responsibility of the Federal Government and we would take decision with mutual consensus and after consultation with senior party leadership, once the Federal Govt forms policy regarding peace talks.
Zero tolerance against kidnapping, street crimes and dacoity would be adopted for ending feelings of insecurity among masses, he maintained.
Khattak categorically made it clear that no compromise would be made on peace and law and order situation as for progress and prosperity besides economic stability, lasting peace in KP was imperative.
Khan said PTI's Government in KP would be a role model for other provinces and rejected the impression of using official resources before taking the oath.
