KPK Assembly to elect chief minister today
PESHAWAR: The members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly are due to elect the leader of the house (chief minister) Friday, Geo News reported.

Asad Qaisar and Imtiaz Qureshi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have already been elected unopposed as speaker and deputy speaker of the KPK Assembly respectively.

On Thursday, Pervez Khattak of PTI, Molana Lutfur Rehman of JUI and Wajih uz Zaman of PML-N had submitted the nominations papers for the CM office.

As soon as the assembly session began, the outgoing speaker summoned the parliamentary leaders of all political parties to his chamber and deferred the session for a while.

After prolonged discussions, the opposition announced to withdraw its candidates for speaker and deputy speaker positions. Hence, Asad Qaisar and Imtiaz Qureshi of PTI were elected as the speaker and deputy speaker unopposed.
