SC hears treason case against Pervez Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: Justice Jawwad S Khwaja, during the hearing of Pervez Musharraf treason case, has remarked that article six of the constitution would be complied if needed.

A three-member bench of the apex court led by Justice Jawwad S Khwaja heard the treason case against the former military ruler Pervez Musharraf.

The counsel of Musharraf, Ahmed Raza Kasuri, in his arguments said that the new government has been formed so its point of view regarding the case should also be heard.

Justice Khilji Arif remarked that the steps taken by the military ruler in 1999 was endorsed by both the parliament and the judiciary so how come article six could be imposed.

Petitioner A K Dogar, who completed his arguments today, said that imposition of emergency in November 2007 was not endorsed by the parliament, adding that the parliament could not endorsed any unconstitutional steps.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till June 24.
