ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for water and power Khawaja Asif Saturday said that load shedding was like piled up garbage of 13/14 years, which could not be cleared immediately and added it might take not weeks or months, but years, Geo News reported.

Talking to media here, Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had five years to resolve this issue, but they wasted it. He said our first priority was to reduce the duration of load shedding.

Khawaja Asif said that he has yet to take charge of the ministry of water and power, he would be able to review the real situation within four days.

Meanwhile, he said countrywide parity would be maintained in load shedding, no discrimination would be made with anyone and the duration of load shedding would be cut short in the holy month of Ramazan.

Minister for water and power, Khawaja Asif assured that he would be making sincere efforts for resolving this issue, the people would be informed if unannounced load shedding resorted to.
However, the minister for water and power refused to give any deadline for ending the menace of load shedding.
