LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Local Government and Community Development Rana Sanaullah Khan on Monday said that despite many odds the government had presented people-friendly FY14 budget as no tax had been imposed on the poor.
"The new budget reflects aspirations of the people in true sense as effective steps have been taken for the welfare of the poor strata of society," he said this while talking to media at his Punjab Assembly chamber.
The Minister said the government had earmarked hefty allocations for education, health, energy and social sectors this year. A comprehensive strategy had also been adopted to cut non-developmental expenditures, he said.
He said, allocations for development of social sectors, promotion of economic activities, provision of new job opportunities and poverty alleviation would help the province to make progress with leaps and bounds.
He said that steps as announced by the Finance Minister in the provincial budget would ensure an atmosphere, which would be conducive to the private sector across the board.
"Steps envisaged for increasing agriculture and industrial production are really commendable," Sana said.
Rana Sana hailed the government's resolve to build Metro Bus system in other cities of the province. He also appreciated steps for the betterment of women and neglected segments of the society. (APP)
