Senate body proposes 15% pay-raise to grade 1-16 employees

ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee of the Senate for Finance has proposed to give 15 percent salary raise to the government employees of grade 1-16 and 10 percent increase to those holding positions above grade -16.

The Senate Standing Committee held its meeting under its chairperson Nasreen Jalil here on Wednesday.

The Committee also proposed to stay the implementation of one percent increase in General Sales Tax (GST) till its ratification by the Parliament.

During the meeting, the committee endorsed the projects and schemes proposed under Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), including Katchi Canal, Kali Farosh Ring Canal and construction of Expressway up to China Board.

The committee, however, rejected the keeping of blocked fund, recommending allocation of funds only for the already approved projects.
