Loadshedding caused Rs1000bn loss: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif on Thursday said that power outages had caused Rs.1000 billion loss to the country, Geo News reported.

Addressing a National Conference in Islamabad, Khawaja Asif said that the power tariff would be raised only for the privileged class and not for the poor people.

The minister said talks were underway with India for the import of 500MW to 2000MW of electricity.

Khawaja Asif said that power distribution companies should also disconnect electricity supply to big defaulters besides ordinary consumers.

He said supply of 40 to 50 cubic feet per day of gas to the CNG sector was unaffordable.
